The following is a reactionary poem riffing off Emily Dickinson’s Tell all the truth but tell it slantβ(#1263). Reading her poem, I thought about how much images have come to stand in for language since Dickinson, as well as the relationship between our expressions of truth and our communication devices.

Sell all desires and spin them new β
Success in Circuit lies
In kindling customer Delight
When viral Needs meet eyes
As Cravings to the Masses rouse
Without a notice why
The Campaign must dull gradually
So all consumers buy β
