Home

A meditation and riff on Emily Dickinson’s XVIII, “Heaven is what I cannot reach!”

A Home is where I cannot go
The Garden never seen
But felt in every piercing “should”
That’s what “home” is, to me.

The salt-chapped sting of ocean gale
That forces a retreat
Just moments til the skies reveal
What beauty really means.
