The following is a reactionary poem riffing off Emily Dickinson’s Tell all the truth but tell it slant—(#1263). Reading her poem, I thought about how differently I relate to truth claims and experience truths, compared to Emily’s intensity of truth.
Tell any truth to bump your views —
Success through circuit-Lies
Eclipse confirmed reports of news
The iris bait Surprise
As thunder drowns the pulpits’ song
Parishioners impaired
A truth must travel violently
Through every feral scare —
