I am thankful for this life and not another
For this story and not another
For these eyes, the perspective they bring
For every place these feet have stepped
For this earth’s imprint upon my body
I am thankful for this mind and not another
For this brain, for this thought
Ensnared and constrained and contorted
By this language in this time in this space
For this body, this blood, this breath
I want to dig into this life—
To lean into this wind
To run toward and not away from this mystery
To dive into this rip tide reckless
Refusing my back a glimpse of this sun
Until it blisters, destroys, disintegrates, dissipates
Until this process unfolding through time stalls
Until this unseen silk unraveling across space snaps
Until that great peace
Is summoned by bones crying out: “Enough!”
Beautifully stated perspective on a life well lived Drew! I especially loved “I want to dig into this life—
To lean into this wind
To run toward and not away from this mystery
To dive into this rip tide reckless
To refuse my back a glimpse of this sun.”
